Car would not start today. Ha. Gravity fed petrol into pump then reattached fuel lines and car runs. Unsure of problem. Performed compression tests on the cylinders of the engine – remove all spark plugs, then screw the gauge into each spark plug hole whilst turning the engine over.
An engine overhaul is intended (new gaskets, piston rings etc.) but this test should flag up any serious problems. Diagnosed two cylinders as faulty, numbers 1 and 4. Performed Wet test (oil in spark plug hole) and improved results, for number 1 only slightly but for number 4 put the compression to the second highest of all cylinders. This indicates a piston ring wear problem in cylinder 4 and possibly 1, unsure as to the exact problem for number 1, will have to wait untill the engine’s stripped.
