With only a few things to work out with the engine now, it’s time to get the body ready for all the work it desperately needs. Haven’t yet decided whether I’m going to yank the engine to make painting the bulkhead(firewall) easier/possible, so these panels will more than likely come off again, and knowing me, more than once.
So, acknowledging this as a mock up… the front wheelhouses and fenders have been attached, and the bonnet(hood) just laid on. First thing to do is to properly shim the fenders and hang the doors to get good gaps between panels and alignment of contours.

Then… begins the joyous, tedious, arduous task of body filler… which I am obviuosly anticipating with glee. The boot and bonnet are both particularly dreaded; the bonnet looks as though it’s been walked over and smacked with a dot punch for no real reason, and the boot seems to curve to a different contour than the rest of the car. Fun.

Looks fabulous. Please keep posting!!! I have a ’67 400 Conv that has been in storage since the dark ages that needs the “treatment”. Every time I read one of you postings I get closer to getting to it !!!

Man I thought you croaked! Iam glad to see tour car is coming along. It sure does look great. Still have my 68 camaro ….still beating on it. Maybe one day I will grow up. Probably not though lol

Too bad you don’t live in the states. I had two 326 hoods in great shape. I gave the best one to my buddy, and the other one is just taking up space that I need in the garage. I’m going to buy a 400 hood for my project when the time comes.
Nothing has changed on my Firebird, but I’ve made really great progress on my Jeep ZJ and Dodge Ram Charger. I spent 4 hours with a wire wheel today cleaning rust, dirt, and grime off my new to me Dana 60 front axle.

Looks great, I have a 67 Firebird I’m restoring ground up. I have stripped, grinder, and removed everything, about to get it blasted, noticed on the left side frame, mid door, that it’s been hit, which I think has pushed in that side of body about 1/4 in. How difficult is that to repair? please reply to email, thanks
