I installed a pair of 6×9″ RetroSound speakers on the rear parcel shelf. I also put in the rear parcel shelf (or rear deck) on top of a layer of sound deadening foam. These speakers will be getting paired with a Retrosound dash speaker and radio. Note that I installed the rear seat belts at the same time, see that post here.
- The bare rear deck
- A thin layer of sound deadening foam
- I mocked this up in position then marked where the holes should be drilled
- The parcel shelf in place with the mounting rings for the speakers. These rings do a good job at securing the shelf too.
- The underside showing the two speakers mounted
- The mesh baffle installed to finish the job… Note I’ve got a double layer of baffling (the mesh and the shelf itself… I’ll see how it sounds, if the highs are muffled then I’ll cut a hole in the shelf)
