Took fuel pump out again, manually pumped it to get a better feel for how much force is needed on the lever. Then tested it by holding the pump in the opening for the lever whilst the engine is turning. Cam movement is definately sufficient to move lever. Bolted back on.
Attached hose to fuel inlet on the pump and the other end of the hose in a fuel can on the floor, nothing connected to pumps outlet – expecting to see spurts of fuel being pumped out. Nothing. Used a shorter hose and no different. Reposition fuel can above engine, with a short hose, and pump does pump fuel out with force, if it is gravity fed. This could point to a weak pump or problems with the fuel lines from the tank.
